Where to Saltwater fish

Salt water fly fishing is the fastest growing branch of the sport as a lot of fishers come to realise that just about any predatory fish in the world can be made to take a fly if you can get it to them.

The key skill required before you even think about tackling the salt, is a cast called the Double Haul. Unless you have learned how to double haul with heavy lines and often heavy and very un aero-dynamic flies, do not even think about trying your hand at this game.

The other factor to consider most carefully is that wandering about in tidal reaches of the sea is extremely dangerous and you should not even think about going out, without being guided by a local expert.

On our home shores the Bass has become something of a must catch species.

I have, myself, been through the fascinating learning curve with the man currently reckoned to be the Uk’s leading expert in this field, Justin Anwyl.

He’s the one on the right!

Justin works as a full time Bass fishing guide down on his home waters near Chichester in West Sussex and if you fancy a go at this you can reach Justin at www.bass-fishing.co.uk

Ed Missick with Bone fish

But if you fancy warmer waters and can afford the occasional trip overseas, fishing for species like Bone-fish, Permit, Tarpon and a host of others will give you the excuse to wander off with guys like Ed Missick (pictured above) to places like the Turks & Caicos in Caribbean. If you want advice on doing this give me a shout and look up my bluewater fishing advice at www.michaelevans.co.uk/holidays_bluewater.asp
