We believe that there is more to a days fishing than just catching fish. Don’t get us wrong, good fishing is only good fishing if you catch something, but also very important is the location, the facilities, the other people you might meet at the water, the skill level required and so on.
In the first instance you need to know you can at least fish when you get there. On some waters it is possible to turn up and then find they have some big competition or group day and you are either turned away or you are faced with hoards of people.
Most of our fishing is booked in advance over the internet or by telephone and day tickets are not sold at any of our smaller waters. Numbers of rods are always be strictly controlled so that you will never find more than the advertised number of rods fishing and usually far fewer. This allows us to manage the water better, limit the pressure and improve the quality of the fishing. It also means that if you want to come with your friends and have a private day, you can book out the entire venue for that day. Indeed there are special discounts for so doing.
All of our waters will have either a bailiff or a ghillie. They will usually be on hand to welcome you to the water and show you around. They will also be available to offer general advice on flies and tactics and provide a little help if you need it, but please note that there primary job is to look after the water and the facilities and they are not there to give a full guiding or instructing service. We do have courses and various one to one Fly fishing tuition options that can be provided during your day by prior arrangement.
Fresh tea and coffee and the days newspaper will also usually be available at our fishing huts or lodges for those that would like a few minutes relaxation away from the water.
We try where practically possible to ensure that there is easy access for wheel chair users to our huts, lodges and fishing but at the very least we will provide you with proper information about the extent of the facilities for disabled anglers at each water.
